Creator Model Turnaround

A few posts back I put up my WIP for my modelling show reel. I have been busy with other things but managed to render out the first part of the update. This is the creator model I made for the fourth year film I helped create at University. I hope to get back to the rest of the models as well as some new ones soon and finally get round to making the full show reel.

Ncloth tests

Been working on some nCloth test in a hope to be able to create realistic cloth simulations for animated characters. Started with some simple table cloth simulation.

I then moved onto learning about dynamic constraints and did this simple test to try them out on different objects. It still requires some work but the main elements are working. Next I would like to join everything properly as a real flap would be.

Modelling Showreel WIP

Just a practice showreel for my modelling. Excuse the bad sampling. I just wanted some quick renders fro test purposes. I have some other models to add along with some close ups and edge flow layers. The real showreel will be up in a couple of days.

Toaster Boy WIP

I have been spending some time thinking about where I want to really push my career to. Loads of places are looking for generalists but the bigger companies like specialists so its a tough one. I dabbled in thinking about being more of a generalist but I don't quite have the work just now to apply to those positions. I have always liked modelling as well as animation and rigging so I thought I would get some practice in to add to my generalist skills and so Toaster Boy was born. I took some sketches of a character I had and quickly modelled it up in Maya. I want to change the Toaster head so it is a four piece toaster so I can have levers on the front to use as eyebrows over the eyes.

I was thinking he could be used for a short animation idea I have where he would be CG put into the real world on the run from the the hardware pimps who are trying to whore him out to the toast loving public. This project would give me all the skills I would need to be a great generalist.

Welcome

Welcome to my Art and Animation Blog. Here I will post updates on what I am working on any cool things I have been doing.

I have just finished Dare to be Digital , where my team and myself created our game "Lapin".
My roles in the team were Team Leader, Animation, Rigging and some 2d Art. The rest of the team are Gary Welsh, Tom Beattie, Barney Randall and Willy McCarter.

It is an infinite runner game with arcade shooting elements. You play as Shortpaw the rabbit Mage as you charge to face hordes of enemies. Using duel magic staves you blast the enemies into piles of goo collecting carrots as your reward.

Here is the trailer:

We hope to continue to work on the game over the next few months and get it released on the App store and Android market.
